Sophie la Girafe is a baby teething toy popular among new parents around the world. Made from 100% natural rubber, the toy is free from any harsh chemicals, including Phthalates and BPA. More than just a teether, Sophie helps simulating the baby’s 5 senses, including sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing.
I decided to buy Sophie for my son after reading lot of recommendations on the internet. It is his second teething toy, after Dr. Brown’s Learning Loop Teether. Here’s my take on [The Original] Sophie la Girafe.
About Sophie la Girafe
[The Original] Sophie la Girafe is a giraffe-shaped toy – about 7 inches tall. The base of the giraffe is white in colour. It has brown-coloured (asymmetric) dots all over its body. The giraffe has a smiling face. It produces a squeaky sound when pressed. It also releases a mild fragrance which feels very soothing.

What’s my experience with Sophie la Girafe?
I introduced Sophie to my son when he was 5 months old. initially, he didn’t take much interest in the toy, but gradually started liking it. Now he loves playing with it every now and then. He finds comfort in biting it whenever he’s fussy or irritated. Sophie’s mouth is his favorite area to munch on. Fun part – he holds it in one of his tiny hands and beat it with another hand to make the squeaky sound.
Final Take
Sophie is a unique teething toy that most of the babies enjoy playing with. The paint may fade off a bit but that’s food-grade so shouldn’t be a matter of concern. Cleaning requires special attention, as water may get inside through the squeaker opening and stop it from working. If price tag is not an issue, Sophie is a must try for your baby.
