Ingredients Required
- Brown Rice – 1 teaspoon
- Yellow Split Moong Dal – 1 teaspoon
- Orange Split Masoor Dal – 1 teaspoon
- Green Beans – 2-3 pieces
- Green Peas (fresh or frozen) – a handful
- Carrot – 1/2, medium sized
- Potato – 1, small sized
- Tomato – 1, medium sized
- Garlic – 1 clove
- Turmeric – 1 pinch
- Cumin Powder – 1 pinch
- Salt – 1 pinch
- Ghee – 1 teaspoon
- Water – 1 1/2 cup

- Pressure Cooker
- Blender

Method for Preparation
- Thoroughly wash the rice, moong dal and masoor dal under running tap water; preferably 3-4 times.
- Soak them in bowl and keep aside for 15 minutes.
- Thoroughly wash all the vegetables under running tap water.
- Remove the outer skin of the tomato, de-seed it, and cut it into small pieces.
- Peel potato and carrot. Cut them into small pieces.
- Remove the ends of the green beans and cut them into small pieces.
- Finely chop the garlic clove.
- Heat ghee in the pressure cooker.
- Add chopped garlic. Let it cook until it turns aromatic.
- Add turmeric and cumin powder.
- Add vegetables (potato, beans, peas, carrot). Stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes.
- Add salt. Let it cook for a while.
- Add rice and dals. Mix everything well.
- Add water.
- Close the lid of the pressure cooker and let it cook for 6-7 whistles.
- Switch off the gas stove and allow the pressure to release completely.
- Remove the khichdi from the pressure cooker and allow it to cool down.
- Put the khichdi into the blender and blend into a fine paste. Serve fresh.
